A sweet and sour sauce made with our date syrup that goes very well with tofu.
Serves 2 / preparation time 15 minutes
- 1 onion
- 2 pinches of salt
- 2 tbsp cider vinegar
- 3 tbsp orange juice
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 tbsp date syrup
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- tofu of your choice
- 1/2 pepper
- In a small saucepan, sauté the onion with salt over medium heat with a dash of olive oil. Deglaze with cider vinegar and add the orange juice. Simmer until the liquid thickens slightly.
- Add the tomato paste, the squeezed garlic, the date syrup and the balsamic vinegar. Simmer the sauce over low heat. It must have a consistency neither too liquid nor too thick.
- Meanwhile, prepare your tofu skewers with a slice of pepper between each piece of tofu. Cook the brochettes in a frying pan over medium heat. Serve the skewers with the sauce.
