Description

Broken Walnuts

Walnuts have a characteristic taste. A favourite brain food of young and old. Due to their deep nutty flavour, walnuts go very well with dates. But walnuts are also delicious as a crunch in salads or crumbled over soup.

What are walnuts broken used for?

In addition to our whole walnuts, we also offer the cheaper variant walnuts broken. When cracking the shell of the walnuts, the so-called walnut curd is produced in addition to the whole kernels. The taste of broken walnuts is in no way inferior to that of our whole walnuts. Whether in muesli, roasted over curry dishes or for baking, our walnut curd is a true all-rounder in the kitchen.

How healthy are walnuts?

On 100 grams, our walnuts have about 591 calories. Walnuts have a very high content of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. However, due to their fat content of over 60 percent, they are also quite high in calories. Walnuts also contain vitamin E. Vitamins of the B group are also found in walnuts and they have valuable antioxidants.

You have probably heard that walnuts are so-called brain food. But is that actually true and where does it come from?

In fact, it is true that eating walnuts has a positive effect on the work of our brain. After eating walnuts, a significant improvement in memory, learning ability, anxiety and even motor development has been observed. This can all be attributed to the aforementioned B vitamins, which are ideal nerve food. They support important brain functions and also have a preventive effect against irritability and lack of concentration.

In conclusion, it can be said that whether at school, at university, during sports or at work, walnuts can have a positive effect on our concentration and thus help us in one or the other tense situation.

Where do walnuts grow and when are they ripe?

The ripening period of walnuts is between the end of September and the end of October. The walnuts grow on the walnut tree and fall from it as soon as the nuts are ripe.

Walnut recipes

As mentioned above, the walnut is also a super snack that acts as brain food. But that is by far not all the walnut can do. Among other things, they are also very popular in baking. Whether it’s banana bread with walnuts, apple walnut cake or – similar to our almonds – simply caramelising the walnuts. Besides sweet dishes, like the caramelised walnuts, you can also easily use the walnuts as a topping for a salad or similar.
