Linseed oil organic
This pure edible oil is cold pressed (37 °C) from brown linseed (Linum usitatissimum), gently filtered without pressure and bottled fresh from the mill under vacuum. Rapid and gentle processing protects the precious vegetable oil from light and oxygen. In this way, the ingredients and the typical flavour of the variety are particularly well preserved. Fresh linseed oil contains about 55% omega-3 fatty acids (unsaturated). After bottling, the linseed oil is given a best-before date of 4 months. If stored in a refrigerator or freezer, it will keep for weeks or months longer. It tastes slightly nutty. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are not heat-stable, so the oil is particularly suitable for salads and cold dishes.
Linseed oil is popular with jacket potatoes and herb curd cheese. It is suitable as an ingredient for fresh vegetable juices, steamed vegetables, salad dressings, dips, milk drinks and muesli – but not for hot cooking.
