In order to find the best quality dates, we’ve visited many farms in various countries and chose to work with a few selected ones. We now get our dates from date farms in Algeria, California, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
We recommend eating soft/juicy dates cold or even frozen. Chewy dates (like Mabroom, Khidri etc.) should be eaten at room temperature so they’re not too hard.

It’s best to store dates in the freezer. That way they maintain their great taste for longer. If you plan on eating the dates within a few weeks, you can also store them in the fridge, or, if you’ll consume them in a week or so, you can leave them on the kitchen shelf.
Remember: Soft and juicy dates should always be stored in the fridge or freezer. They also taste amazing when cold.

All dates are harvested within the same time frame (August to October, depending on the location). However, just like there are different varieties of apples, there are different varieties of dates. The types of dates are different in terms of softness, color, size, shape, and of course taste. However, after the harvest, the dates are not modified in any way and their being more soft or more chewy just depends on the variety.
“Fresh dates”, which are round and yellow, are young dates at the beginning of the ripening process. They are only available for a short time each year. “Dried dates”, as dates are often called, are not actually dried. They are just left to ripen on the palm trees for longer until they are fully ripe, their skin is wrinkly and they have a brown color.
